Present Perfect

Present perfect: the connection between past actions and the present moment.

We use the present perfect to discuss an action that has been completed in the past but is relevant now.

Examples:

I have seen this film.
She has done her homework.
He has broken his leg.

The present perfect can also be used to discuss activities that started in the past, continue to the present, and may continue into the future.

Examples:

We have studied English for 3 years.
They have lived in Milan since 2022.
I have played the piano since I was 8.

The present perfect can also be used to discuss events within an unfinished time period such as a week, month or year.

Examples:

I’ve been to the gym 3 times this week.
She has borrowed my car twice this month already.
They haven’t been on holiday yet this year.
